Jacobs University is a private, research-oriented university with a broad spectrum of disciplines that teaches and trains coming generations of scientists from around the globe. At present, around 1,200 young people from almost 100 different nations live and learn on the 34-hectare campus in the north of the city of Bremen. This is equipped to the most modern standards. The campus language is English.
The profile of the state-accredited university, which opened in 2001, is characterized by highest standards of research and teaching, interculturality, and systematic, transdisciplinary collaboration. The objective is to prepare graduates in the best possible way for the responsibilities they will bear as citizens of the world in an increasingly globalized professional market.

Jacobs University offers Bachelor, Masters and PhD programs in a broad spectrum of disciplines in the areas of engineering, natural sciences, the humanities, and social sciences. These are subdivided into three focus areas of teaching and research: Diversity, Health and Mobility.

Jacobs University consistently promotes personalized mentoring of students and social networking of the worlds of teaching, learning, and life. Transdisciplinary thought processes and intercultural learning are core principles of all study courses. First-year students are already given opportunities for active participation in research and practice-oriented projects.
