BIBA – Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik

BIBA is the oldest affiliated institute of the University of Excellence of Bremen. It provides product-oriented research on dynamic, co-operative, inter-organizational enterprise networks as well as on business practice. It also examines company and cross-company production and logistics processes, focusing, in particular, on their dynamics and complexity.

The engineering institute creates, develops and implements methods and tools for planning and controlling logistical processes as well as for coordinating product development and production in enterprise networks. Accordingly, BIBA addresses topics such as production planning and control, process optimization, robotics and automation as well as man-machine interaction, and provides, for example, research on co-operative innovation, risk, quality and process management, product life cycle management as well as on product-accompanying services (Product Service Systems).

Extending across industries and institutions and taking into account the entire value chain, BIBA's scientific work has for many years contributed significantly to shaping new developments in production and logistics, especially in the field of Industry 4.0.
